Network Administrator

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Network administration (including backup, security management, user account management, e-mail systems including e-mail web server, internet access, office systems and applications support).
• Supports server, network and desktop hardware, software and applications.
• Installation of hardware and software and ensure optimal utilization of resources.
• Plans, implements, and supports the network and computing infrastructure plan.
• Assists with technology planning through ongoing research.
• Performs technology needs analysis.

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 4 years on a medium sized network of servers, desktop systems and communications devices using current technologies.

SKILLS

• Ability to provide technical support
• Ability to maintain operating systems - Linux (Redhat,Suse) , Windows 2003/2000, Windows XP.
• Knowledge & Experience in Windows servers and desktop products.
• Experience in Network Protocols & Hardware: TCP/IP, LAN/WAN Ethernet, ISDN, Cisco routers, Switches.
• Demonstrated ability to administer a 50+ node network including firewalls.
• Experience in setting up remote access for users.
• Knowledge of back-up processes and procedures
• Knowledge of database technology-ORACLE 10g, SQL Server
• Knowledge of network security (eg. VPN)
• Demonstrated ability to support networked printers and photocopiers.
• Installation & Support for Microsoft Packages: MS Office, MS Project, MS VSS
• Ability to negotiate hardware/software service and technical support contracts with vendors.
• Knowledge of web server technology (eg. Internet Information services, SQL Server)
