MANAGER – RADIO ACCESS NETWORK PLANNING
Reporting to: Head Network Design & Planning ( CTO-office)
A. CONTEXT
Purpose:
* Candidate may be involved in participating various industry standards forums like WF( WiMAX Forum)
Context:
*
Aim is to develop world-class WiMAXnetwork architectures, capital efficient network plans, and competitively performing networks; to transfer best-practice planning, design, optimization and reporting techniques in line with FM preferred practices and roadmaps;
*
Inter-working with cross-functional teams to define, propose, and deliver innovative solutions.
B. RESPONSIBILITIES
*
Expert resource for network RF cell planning, indoor-building solutions (IBS), frequency planning & optimisation implementation issues and solutions;
*
Expert resource with respect to on-site support for network start-ups and developing operations for radio access networks, cell planning, frequency planning, indoor-building solutions (IBS) & optimisation planning;
*
Coordinate the transmission, frequency and capacity planning of the network along with operations to achieve optimum network performance;
*
Support for Cross-Operations Platform Coordination;
*
Support for review of operating company strategic plans and budgets with regard to network RF cell planning, frequency planning, indoor-building solutions & optimisation implementation issues;
*
Establishment of KPI’s to support network quality initiatives, network audits, frequency planning, indoor-building solutions & optimisation network management.
*
Implement best-practice Network Policies and Procedures, Planning and Design techniques/toolss in line with architectures and roadmaps;
*
Identify and implement new methods of reducing CAPEX and OPEX costs (e.g. new technologies, network modifications etc) along with network engineering teams.
*
Build team by guiding and developing subordinates.
C. EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience & Essential Knowledge:
*
Radio Access Network (RAN), Base Station Sub-System (BSS), RF cell planning, frequency planning, indoor-building solutions (IBS) & optimisation planning issues;
*
In-depth understanding of Mobile WIMAX & other evolving 4G RAN’s.
*
Understanding of 3G based systems like HSDPA, HSPA & HSPA+ would be advantageous.
*
In-depth understanding of Wireless backhaul technologies like P2P Microwave (Ethernet, SDH & PDH) & Unlicensed band products.
*
In depth understanding of evolved packet core systems (Packet Gateways, HA etc) for next generation Wireless technologies.
*
Understanding of IP based multimedia systems would be plus.
*
Understanding of next generation transmission network ( Ethernet/MPLS)
*
Good understanding of MetroE networks and Broadband networks.
*
Strong knowledge of 3GPP network technologies (especially W-CDMA) and end-to-end planning practices, implementation methods and cost optimisation strategies, with a speciality in Radio networks
*
Strong experience in RF cell planning, frequency planning, indoor-building solutions & optimisation network evolution and optimization projects, possibly from 3G Operator (or equipment vendor);
*
Strong experience in RF, in-building, & optimisation network planning processes and planning tools.
Minimum Entry Qualifications:
*
8+ years of telecom experience in the field of Wireless & IP Networks, with at least 5 years directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, including a managerial RF cell planning, indoor-building solutions (IBS), frequency planning & optimisation network technology position at a major mobile company.
*
Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor of Engineering/Technology in Engineering (Computer/Telecommunication), Engineering (Electrical/ Electronic) or equivalent.
